Individual Collectivism

How to live in the city of Rotterdam, a modern(ist) settlement, but on the other hand, in the city like any other? Full of individualism, maybe stressfull atmosphere of dayliness...

Well, if a city is a project of happiness since the early, then an urban designer and architect should (together) reflect a need to cope with a loneliness in a city and to care about citizens' mind.

What was the mistake of modernism movement? Did not they want to create a real collectivism? One flat next to each other - that sounds like a chance to meet others, to speak to them, to live with them. But that failed (did it?) and even more, massive blocks of flats built in that era may seem to be scary with boring, united look. (Based on some of personal collection of opinions around)

Give your mind a peaceful place, for instance something like permanent forest. It deserves it.
Increase the chance to live with your neighbours. Not just next to them. (Not for everybody?)
Take into account that even your own family is a collective you live with.
Individualize your house as a kind of your own representation. Exactly like your clothes do.
Do you really need a car in a city?

More coming soon.
